When it came to animating, I found my mesh would stretch or skew. To counter this problem, weight painting needed to be applied.
In the image above I found that adding a low opacity on my brush worked the best I applied a little to the back of the calfs and a higher opacity around the waist, hip and groin area.
Here is my finished animation, as you can see the applied weight paints have sorted (for the most part) the problems I was having with mesh distortion.
